Every religion has perverts and psychopaths who try to hijack it.
任何一种宗教都有堕落的人，或是精神异常的人将其绑架。
pervert：堕落者，行为变态者
psychopath：精神病患者
hijack：劫持
ISIS is as much Islamic as the KKK is Christian. Don't they have a cross? Don't they do everything in the name of religion and Christ? Don't they believe that Christ compels them to lynch and kill people of African descent? Can one really say that the KKK is a Christian organization?
“伊斯兰国”跟伊斯兰教的关系，就好像“3K党”跟基督教的关系。他们不都高举着十字架？他们的所作所为不都是仗着基督的名号？他们不都相信是基督命令他们用私刑杀害黑人？难道我们就可以说“3K党”是基督教组织吗？
cross：十字架
in the name of：以…的名义
compel…to…：强迫…做（某事）
lynch：对…用私刑
descent：血统
There are other groups that one can point to. There are other massacres that were committed in the name of keeping certain countries or regions, clear, of non-Christians. There are people like this also in the Jewish faith that have nothing to do with Judaism. There are people like this in the Hindu faith that have nothing to do with Hinduism. For anyone to argue that DAESH（ISIS） is Islamic is preposterous.
我们还可以指出其他这样的组织。还有其他打着保全国家或宗教的旗号而施行的大屠杀，很明显，这些与基督教没半毛钱关系。犹太教也有很多这样的人，但与犹太教毫无瓜葛。印度教也有很多这样的人，但与印度教毫无关系。所以，有人称“伊斯兰国”就是伊斯兰教，简直就是荒唐。

In the Islamic faith the Quran（可兰经） reveals that you have your faith and I have my faith. You are free to practice your faith and I am free to practice mine. What greater sign of tolerance and acceptance do you have than this? In the Islamic faith, it says 'He who kills an innocent soul is as if he has killed all of humanity. And he who saves an innocent soul is as if he has saved all of humanity.' What better example of compassion and mercy do you have than this?
在伊斯兰教信仰中，《可兰经》教导我们说“你有你的信仰，我有我的信仰；你可以自由地去实践你的信仰，我也可以自由地实践我的信仰。”还有什么比这种包容和接纳更伟大的？伊斯兰信仰认为“错杀一个无辜的人，如同杀众人；拯救一个无辜的人如同拯救众人。”还有什么比这种怜悯和慈悲更美好的？

So if you look at what DAESH says and say 'it is in the scriptures'... Doesn't the Old Testament（圣经旧约） say 'an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth'? If somebody did that today, would you say that they were Christian or that they were Jewish?
所以你看到“伊斯兰国”说的东西就认为是来自伊斯兰经文…难道你们的圣经中没说“以眼还眼，以牙还牙”？倘若今天有人干了此事，你会说他是基督徒，还是犹太教徒？

I caution people, because it seems to have become almost novel, not novel, it’s become the flavor of the day to try to read things into DAESH or into Islam that are not there.
我在这里想警告大家，因为这似乎成为了一个新鲜事儿，不，不是新鲜事儿，而是成为了时下流行的口味，去把“伊斯兰国”和“伊斯兰教”划上等号，但事实并不如此。
caution：可以作动词，警告
novel：新颖的
flavor：口味、风味
The Islamic religion and Islamic civilization was the civilization that preserved the history of Greece and Rome and passed it onto the West. Western civilization would not exist without the Islamic Arab civilization. The Islamic civilization was the civilization that connected China with Europe, so it was global.
伊斯兰教和伊斯兰文明保存了希腊和罗马历史，并将其交还给西方。如果没有伊斯兰阿拉伯文明，西方文明也不复存在。伊斯兰文明还连接的中国和欧洲，所以它是世界性的。
civilization：文明
preserve：保存
pass…onto…：把…交给…
If Islam was intolerant and DAESH represented Islam, would Islam have preserved Aristotle and Socrates and passed it onto the West? Would Islam have connected Eastern civilization with Western civilization? Of course not. I urge you, all of you, to be careful when it comes to making generalizations or accepting generalizations when they have no basis in fact. Thank you.
如果伊斯兰是狭隘的，并且“伊斯兰国”代表伊斯兰教的话，那么，伊斯兰世界会保存亚里士多德和苏格拉底，并将其交还给西方？伊斯兰世界会甘愿作为连接东方文明和西方文明的桥梁？当然不会。所以，我敦促大家，所有人，在下结论的时候或者听取没有事实根据的结论的时候，一定要谨慎。谢谢！
