This program will be conducted in English.
Photographs can tell stories and document moments in history for generations to come. Do you enjoy viewing vintage works of photojournalism and street photography? Would you like to take a trip through the past 70 years of American history through the lens of a celebrated photographer? Photographer George Zimbel’s camera captured everyone from presidents to farmers, prime ministers, railroad engineers, movie stars and children.
Please join us at the Beijing American Center, where the directors of “Zimbelism,” a feature documentary about the work of humanist photographer George Zimbel, will screen their film and discuss Zimbel’s life and work. Zimbel’s camera captured Presidents John F. Kennedy and Harry Truman, Marilyn Monroe, and the real “Mad Men” (advertising executives) of New York’s Madison Avenue. Executive produced by an Oscar Award-winning film studio, this film is a celebration of black and white street photography, which was once an essential record of daily life, but is now under siege by the digital camera, copyright infringement and privacy laws.
This program is not suitable for children under 6.
