Have you ever needed to tighten your belt? We can use the phrase "tighten one's belt" literally (in the usual meaning of the words) and figuratively (different from the usual meaning). If my pants are too big, I tighten my belt. When I don't have a lot of money, I tighten my belt. (This means I spend less than I did before because I have less money.) Today's #AmericanEnglish #verb opposites: tighten & loosen. Practice using these verbs in a sentence!
