本次电影夜活动，上海美国中心带来影片《隐藏人物》(HiddenFigures)，该片由塔拉吉· P ·汉森、奥克塔维亚·斯宾瑟、加奈儿·梦奈等人主演，将镜头对准60年代美国国家航空航天局（NASA）的三位非裔女性科学家，讲述她们为1962年美国人首次完成地球轨道飞行项目做出的不为人知的贡献。影片放映后，现场会有来自领馆的外交官带领大家一起讨论。

Join us for a special screening of Hidden Figures, the story of a team offemale African-American mathematicians who served a vital role in NASA duringthe early years of the U.S. space program. The film stars Taraji P.Henson as Katherine Johnson, a mathematician who calculated flight trajectoriesfor Project Mercury and other missions. The film also features Octavia Spenceras NASA supervisor Dorothy Vaughan and Janelle Monáe as NASA engineer Mary Jackson,with Kevin Costner, Kirsten Dunst, Jim Parsons, Glen Powell and Mahershala Aliin supporting roles. One of our Consulate Officers will lead apost-screening discussion.

美国的政治体系由联邦层面、州层面和地方层面等组成。美国前众议院议长TipO’Neill曾就美国政治体系说过一句很经典的话：“所有的政治都是地方政治（ Allpolitics is local ）。”美国各地的公民往往首先是从社区层面启动改变的进程，比如通过学校委员会、市议会、甚至是小区的居委会等等。他们在此过程中遇到的问题和挑战会影响整个社会的政治议题，最终可能改变整个国家的走向。上海美国中心的本次讲座中，我们将着重介绍美国政治的这个特点，看看每个普通的公民在每一天是如何通过解决社区的问题来影响整个国家的政治进程的。

Former U.S. Speaker of the House Tip O’Neillonce said that “All Politics is Local” as a way to betterunderstand America’s political system, which is made up of codependentgovernments at the federal, state and local level. He was talking abouthow individuals across America often work together to enact change at thecommunity level, whether as members of public institutions like school boardsor city councils or even small neighborhood committees. Thechallenges they work through together can make a big impact on national politicalconversations and ultimately, the direction of the country. The ShanghaiAmerican Center is proud to host a lecture on this phenomenon, looking closelyat how everyday citizens, and the issues that affect their communities caninfluence America’s national politics.
