通常，面试官请我们说段自我介绍时，我们一开口就会说"My name is XXX." 很抱歉，这样的开场白很弱。有些答案，看似理所当然，一旦你那样想，就暴露了英文的弱点和沟通的弱点。
首先，先尝试以下问题的回答，再看自己的回答最接近弱，普，强哪一种。了解面试官真正想知道的是什么，才能回答切中要领。

"Tell me about yourself."
问
他想知道的是：你为什么适合这份工作？
弱
My name is George. I am 25 years old. I have a sister and a brother…
普
I am an engineer with 10 years experience.
强
I believe that I am the best candidate for this position because…

When I was working on …project, I realized that my career goal is…
你的名字、工作都写在履历上了，面试官最关心的也不是你家有几个人，从最精采的地方开始吧，你的故事、能力、成就如何证明你能胜任这份工作。

"How would people describe you？"
问
他想知道的是：你跨部门合作的能力。

I'm not sure. Probably easy-going.

People would say that I'm responsible, enthusiastic…

My supervisor would say that I always think ahead for him. For example…
负责、有热忱都太常见且笼统，说出你的主管、不同部门同事为什么信赖你，实际的例子更有帮助。

"Where do you see yourself in five years？"
问
他想知道：你真的在意这份工作吗？
弱
I would like to stay in the industry. Maybe I'll be working for…
普
I see myself in this company, cooperating with different teams.
强
I hope that I’ll be an account director by that time, representing client A, B, and C…

I'm open to a few options...and that's why I believe the experience here will lead me to the best decision…and that's why I'm excited about the marketing skills I'll gain here.
这是你职涯蓝图中的理想工作，还是你只是来过个水？如果计画继续待在这里，刻划出你的成长，例如，现在面试的是专员（account executive），5年后你希望自己成为总监（account director），负责哪些具体客户。计画不确定没关系，但要让面试官理解你对这份工作的重视，至少会稳定在这里多久的时间。

"What is your weakness?"

他真的就是想知道：你的弱点。

My tolerance can be low when my team members do not meet the basic requirement at work. To me, mistakes are acceptable, but not lacking self-discipline. In these cases, I communicate with the members in private and figure out how I can help each of them.
硬把优点说成弱点，让人觉得虚假、无法意识到自己的问题。回答应该要诚实而有策略：合理说明自己的弱点，一定要补充为了改善，正进行那些努力。比起陈述情绪上的弱点，陈述自己不擅长处理的状况，更容易被接受。

"Why are you the best person for the position？"

他想知道的是：你哪里和别人不一样？

I'm not just an experienced manager. All your candidates must be experienced in communication. However…
尽力是基本，对老板或员工来说都是。看清楚这份工作的内容、征人条件，回溯自己的经验，找到对应的例子。 「事/能力 set me apart from 人」是好用的句型，突显你和其他应征者的不同。
