Job Title: Student Life Coordinator

Status: Full-Time

About: The Chengdu American Center for Study Abroad is looking for an individual with a dynamic personality to fill the position of a Student Life Coordinator who reports to the Assistant Director of the Center.

1.Responsibility

a. Assist with the reception and send-off of U.S. university students, faculty and other delegation visitors including airport pick-up and drop-off duties;

b. Educate, interpret, and hold visiting student residents accountable to all community standards, university housing policies, and local Chinese laws to maintain a safe, secure, and respectful environment;

c. Act as a liaison between residents and dormitory staff in order to resolve dormitory issues;

d. Be the first responder to any emergencies that may occur. Involve appropriate university and Center staff and outside agencies if necessary;

e. Assist in orientating new residents to the campus including opening bank and phone accounts, getting student ID cards, and other related campus and student life matters. Regularly initiate contact with residents to evaluate their status;

f. Support students in their personal and social development including decision-making, self-responsibility, confrontation, conflict resolution, and respect for cultural differences;

g. Help with organizing and attending the Center’s events and activities such as orientation, student parties, out-of-town culture excursions, etc.;

h. Interpret during large events, translate important documents and newsletters, post articles on WeChat and other social media platforms, and work on other marketing initiatives;

i. Help g-MEO promote its programs among students from the US and China;

j. Assist with continuous improvement of the Center's students-related programming;

k. Assist other projects as required;

2.Requirements

a. Bachelor’s degree in higher education, international relations, intercultural communications, and/or equivalent education in a related field. A minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience is preferred. Master’s degree a plus.

b. Must be interested in cross-cultural experiences and helping those in need;

c. Must be able to stay calm under pressure, as well as resolve problems independently;

d. Must be able to speak advanced/fluent English and Chinese;

e. Must be approachable and available 24/7, especially during evening hours;

f. Must have strong initiative, passion, teamwork spirit and sense of responsibility;

g. Good communication and coordination skills. Experience in student work/voluntary activities is preferred;

h. On-time participation in training and activities is a must;

i. Good computer skills in MS Office programs and web design. Additional IT knowledge is a plus.

3.Compensation

a. One single room in the Overseas Student Dormitory on Huaxi Campus;

b. Salary is competitive for a qualified professional, based on local pay grade;

c. HTH Worldwide or Local Insurance;
