The Role

 

The Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery (FNFNM) are engaged with local government stakeholders to assist with the development of the nursing and midwifery staff required for their existing population and the new healthcare facilities that they will develop. There is an intention to build a second campus of a local health school located in close proximity to the proposed hospitals.

 

King’s College London is inviting applications for an exciting project management role based in Nanjing, Jiangsu province. The role is suitable for an ambitious and high-calibre professional who has acquired solid project management,relationship building and cross-cultural communication skills.  A successful track record in working with government stakeholders and a healthcare background are plusses. The successful candidate would be offered competitive remuneration and overseas training opportunities.

 

The development and implementation of this project is dependent on highly effective project management both in the UK and in China over a five year period. This is a key role supporting the developmentand implementation of the project and will include:

 

  • Liaising with local nursing school on the ground on behalf of FNFNM

  • Liaising with the project team based in the UK at the FNFNM

  • Ensuring efficient delivery and clear communications between the UK and China project teams

  • Engaging government stakeholders

 

Based in China, the post will work closely with key FNFNM and local government stakeholders,drawing upon an understanding and experience of the UK and ideally UK Universities, coupled with demonstrable understanding and experience of the commercial healthcare sector.

 

The successful candidate would be offered an employment contract for two year in the initial stage with possibilities to extend depending on performance and project development.

 

Responsibilities


-   Working closely with colleagues across FNFNM and the local nursing school, project managing local Chinese activity, engaging government stakeholders and working in close liaison with the UK project team to effectively andefficiently implement the project deliverables in line with agreed project milestones.

-   Organising project meetings in China, including making arrangements for travel plans.

-   Ensuring effective communication in order to keep the academic and administrative communities of both parties aware of project progress as well askey government stakeholders.

-   Any other duties as directed by the Project Team Heads.

 

Skills & Qualifications

 

Essential criteria

 

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject, ideally from a UK     institution.

  • Proven ability to work and communicate fluently in the UK and China

  • Excellent communications skills (written, oral and presentation) in English and Mandarin Chinese

  • The ability to interact with and influence key stakeholders in differing locations, including at government level.

  • Experience of liaison and project management at corporate or government level.

  • Experience of commercial healthcare in the UK and China

  • Good understanding of the UK and in particular UK Universities

  • The ability to work well in teams and communicate effectively

  • Demonstrable project management skills and ability to plan effectively

  • Demonstrable success in pro-actively managing projects

  • Experience and understanding of both the UK and China’s regional healthcare landscape.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Professional English proficiency particularly in written English (at least IELTS 7.0) and Mandarin

 

Desirable criteria

 

  • Higher degree, with a research component.

  • Project Management Qualification, i.e. Prince 2

  • Experience of representing a UK organisation or company in China

  • Direct experience of UK-China countries partnership development and project     delivery

 

The job holders will report to Head of Project Team FNFNM and Head of Local Project Team.
