As a Delivery and Playback Architect for an exciting new business venture that Perform is launching, you will lead the Playback and Stream Delivery architecture for a global live OTT sports streaming service. 

You will be involved in the definition, design and deployment across PC, mobile, tablets, game consoles, connected TVs, Blu-ray players, and set-top boxes.  

-   Working with the product, R&D and operational teams to develop a strategy for deploying best in market video playback for live and catch-up sport

-   Own and maintain the encoding specification and ensure the highest level of video quality across all devices including H264, HEVC and beyond

-   Ensure the video content delivery is a secured using market leading technologies

-   Understanding of the OTT delivery landscape including CDN configuration and ISP relationships

-   nderstanding of the latest and future video delivery mechanisms, especially peer-to-peer protocols

-   Partner with 3rd party providers and Perform’s own departments to develop a state of the art video pipeline to serve a variable of languages and video formats

-   Own the roadmap for new video profiles, delivery mechanisms and packaging to deliver strategic deliverables such as HDR, high frame and UHD

-   In conjunction with Perform’s R&D function, partner with leading industry groups to ensure worldwide video trends favour Perform objectives

-   Contribute to the creation of a best in class OTT live broadcast video experience that is:

*   Sensitive to individual market needs

*   Distinct and memorable both in terms of visual design and customer interaction

*   Focused on content discovery and conversion of customers into brand advocates

-   Develop a thorough understanding of the digital video market and consumer electronics, and continually assess the competitive landscape and emerging industry trends

-   Ensure we are at the cutting edge of new technology and innovations and that:

*   Our product set is ready and able to be distributed across new devices 

*   The product is positioned to be ahead of the market through these new channels.

-   Driven by personal insight, analytics, customer viewing trends and habits, and use these to drive continuous improvements of the product and create competitive advantage

-   Obsession with metrics

-   Contribute to the development of detailed product requirements documents and technical specifications

-   Work closely with the development and operational teams to ensure that the requirements are prioritised and delivered.  

-   Work closely with marketing and commercial teams to represent the business technically with 3rd party platforms

-   Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred

-   Understanding of the issues surrounding delivering video playback across multiple platforms

-   Solid years of relevant work experience

-   Excellent program organization, product management, and coordination skills

-   Strengths in problem solving, issue-resolution, ability to work in a deadline-driven work environment, attention to detail, and ability to multitask

-   Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, manage trade-offs and evaluate opportunistic new ideas with internal and external partners

-   Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated experience engaging and influencing senior management

-   Adept at synthesizing technology and design into best in class products that customers love.

-   Understanding of the challenges of launching products in multiple markets.

-   Absolute passion for innovation

-   Pragmatic approach to feature prioritisation and compromises between designs and technical capabilities 

-   Experience of agile methodologies

-   General interest in sport a real advantage

-   Mandarin, German, Japanese language skill sets also an advantage
