AmCham Shanghai celebrated Independence Day with more than 300 guests at the new Shanghai Disneyland Hotel on July 2. The fun-filled day included children’s activities, a costume contest, brunch, a lucky draw and a half day at Disneyland Park.
The event began in the hotel’s “Cinderella Ballroom” before AmCham Shanghai President Kenneth Jarrett and U.S. Consul General Hanscom Smith made opening remarks. “We are very happy to celebrate America’s 240th Independence Day together with many of our members. This is a quintessential American holiday and one with added significance for Americans living overseas. Celebrating the day with our members and their guests makes it one of our most special events each year,” said Jarrett.
The event continued with the announcement of this year’s lucky draw winners. Shirley Zhao, country president at Allergan China, won a return ticket to the U.S. on American Airlines. Other prizes included VIP tickets to the Shanghai Rolex Masters and a one-night stay at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.
Members were then treated to a special photo opportunity with Mickey and Minnie Mouse before leaving for an afternoon of magic at the newly opened Disneyland Park.
