本次活动由地区英语项目办公室主任,1位目前在中国高校执教的美国外语/二语教学领域的英语学者(EnglishLanguage Fellow)及1位英语教学专业人士共同主持。期待您的参与。活动限100人,实名注册,报满即止。

9:15-10:30:Session 1— Culturaland Linguistic Issues of Pragmatics

This workshop will include a discussion of culturaland linguistic issues related to the pragmatics of functional language tasks.Attendees are asked to read the attached article from English Teaching Forum,"The Pragmatics of Complaining." The workshop will feature groupactivities and guided discussion based on the article, which explores howteachers can help their students express dissatisfaction in aculturally-appropriate way. The workshop will also provide teachers withopportunities to expand the techniques to other tasks, such as asking forclarification or providing feedback.

10:45-12:00:Session 2— More Communication, Please: Reading and Writing

Although most teachers are familiar withthe concept of Communicative Language Teaching (CLT), they may or may notactually be carrying out their lessons in a communicative way. This workshopwill briefly review the core concepts of CLT and their importance in thelanguage classroom. Through several interactive activities, participants willleave with tangible ways of making their reading and writing lessons morecommunicative in nature. This workshop can be adapted for all levels (primaryto university).

15:00-16:15: Session 4— AmericanEnglish.State.Gov – A Free Materials Resource forTeachers


RegionalEnglish Language Office


AmericanEnglish.state.gov is a free resource for teachers and learners of English. It provides a varietyof engaging materials and resources for teachers' professional development andfor students in the classroom. The website has countless downloadable materialsand activities for students and teachers alike.  Learn about how toincrease speaking fluency using board games, use art projects to stimulatewriting, and develop your student’s listening and vocabulary through the use ofaudio books. This presentation will walk you through some of the materialsavailable and offer suggestions to use them to make your English languageclassroom more active and creative while providing students the opportunityproduce more language.
