电影剧情简介

Searchingfor Sugarman is the story of a Mexican-American musician from Detroit namedSixto Rodriguez who recorded two albums in 1970 and 1971 and thendisappeared.  As Influence Film Forum notes, “His music remainedrelatively unheard and unknown, except in South Africa where Rodriguez became alegend.  His albums landed in South Africa during the apartheid, givingpeople the courage and voice they needed to protest against the apartheid. Butbecause South Africa was so isolated, they had no way of knowing anything aboutRodriguez, not even his real name. South Africans called him “Sugarman,” andbelieved he’d died after setting himself aflame on stage.”  This filmfollows the quest of two South African fans who set out to find out whathappened to Rodriguez.
