What is Date Deemed Skilled?

As part of the assessment process, VETASSESS will determine the date you met the entry level requirements for the nominated occupation based on closely related employment within the last ten years.

For example, in January 2015, Bob submits his application forthe nominated occupation of Marketing Specialist (ANZSCO Code 225113). Based onthe documents provided, Bob obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration in December 2008 and he is now working as a marketing executive with a global pharmaceutical company since January 2010. Prior to this employment, he worked as a market researcher for a pharmaceutical marketing and research consultingagency from January 2009 to December 2009.

For skills assessment purposes, Bob's Bachelor of BusinessAdministration was assessed as meeting the educational requirements for the nominated occupation. In addition to this, based on his current employment asmarketing executive, he has at least one year of highly relevant employment which meets the employment requirements for the nominated occupation.

In order to determine the "Date Deemed Skilled", Bob's previous work experience as market researcher was assessed as at least one year of closely related employment to the nominated occupation of Marketing Specialist. Therefore, from January 2010 Bob was deemed skilled in his nominated occupation and his skilled employment from January 2010 (total of 5 years of skilled employment) will be eligible for employment points.
