EducationUSA presents a special information session about music studies in the U.S. and ethnomusicology. Our guest speaker is Dr. Ann L. Silverberg, Professor in Department of Music, Austin Peay State University, Clarksville, Tennessee.
Dr. Ann L. Silverberg is a musicologist and ethnomusicologist. She is currently a Fulbright Scholar in Beijing preparing a book on the present status of the “zheng,” a prominent traditional Chinese musical instrument.
The program will be conducted in English. No translation is provided.
Dr. Ann Silverberg is a professor in Austin Peay State University's Department of Music, Clarksville, Tennessee. She specilializes in musicology and ethnomusicology. She lived on the campus of the Shenyang Conservatory of Music in 2007-2008, studying the zheng, Chinese traditional music, and Mandarin Chinese. Her stay in China was supported by an Austin Peay State University Faculty Professional Development Assignment. She was chosen as a participant in a National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Institute on Chinese Culture held at U. of Hawaii, Manoa in 2007. During her Fulbright year in China, Dr. Silverberg will prepare a book about the traditional Chinese musical instrument - zheng.
