In a surprise twist, “Moonlight” won for Best Picture, after “La LaLand” was initially announced.  

“Moonlight” is a look at three definingchapters in the life of Chiron, a young black man growing up in Miami, and alsowon for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor for MahershalaAli.  

La La Land lead Emma Stone won for Best Actress, and it’s directorDamien Chazelle won for Best Director.  

“Manchester by the Sea”’s KennethLonergan and Casey Affleck won for Best Original Screenplay and Best Actor. 

Viola Davis won Best Supporting Actress for her work in“Fences.”
