查尔斯·博尔登少将是美国国家航空航天局（NASA）的第12位局长，任职从2009年至2017年1月。

博尔登出生在南卡罗来纳的哥伦比亚，参加美国海军学院，并于1968年获得 科学学位，他后来成为一名海军飞行员。

1980年，他被选为宇航员候选人，在美国航空航天局工作了14年，之后于1994年重返海军陆战队，在太平洋地区服役并参加了科威特的沙漠雷霆行动。

作为美国航空航天局局长，博尔登领导该机构开发了“太空发射系统火箭”和猎户座飞船，这将搭乘宇航员到深空目的地，如小行星和火星。

Maj. Gen. Charles Frank Bolden Jr. was the 12th Administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) from 2009 until January 2017. 

Born in Columbia, South Carolina, Bolden attended the US Naval Academy, where he earned a degree in electrical science in 1968 and later became a naval pilot.  

He was selected as an astronaut candidate in 1980, working at NASA for 14 years before returning to the Marine Corps in 1994, where he served in the Pacific as well as in Operation Desert Thunder in Kuwait.  

As NASA Administrator, Bolden led the agency in developing a Space Launch System rocket and Orion spacecraft that will carry astronauts to deep space destinations, such as an asteroid and Mars. 

He also established a new Space Technology Mission Directorate to develop cutting-edge technologies for the missions of tomorrow.  As NASA Administrator, Bolden visited China earlier this year.  Hear what he had to say about space.
