You Can Save Someone’s Life: Simple Facts You Should Know About Cardiovascular Health and CPR

你知道心血管疾病是全世界头号杀手吗？根据美国健康协会的统计，大约90％的人死于医院外心脏骤停。你是否知道CPR，特别是如果立即进行，可以使心脏骤停患者的生存几率增加一倍或三倍？请加入我们北京美国中心关于心血管健康和心肺复苏培训的讲座，嘉宾为北卡罗来纳大学医学教授Sidney C. Smith博士和美国心脏协会（AHA）前任主席。

Do you know cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer worldwide? According to the American Health Association, about 90% of people who suffer out-of-hospital cardiac arrests die. Did you know that CPR, especially if performed immediately, can double or triple a cardiac arrest victim’s chance of survival? Please join us in the Beijing American Center for a talk about cardiovascular health and CPR training by Dr. Sidney C. Smith, Professor of Medicine at the University of North Carolina and a past President of the American Heart Association (AHA). AHA, founded in 1924, is the oldest and largest voluntary U.S. organization dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke. It has funded 13 Nobel Prize winners and many lifesaving research advances such as the first artificial heart valve, cholesterol-lowering drugs, heart transplantation, and CPR techniques. After the talk, AHA staff, including their regional CPR training tutor, will give a demonstration of hands-only CPR and audience members will have the chance to practice this technique themselves.

The program will start at 6:30pm and doors will open at 6pm. Please try to arrive at least 10 minutes before the program starts to allow enough time to go through security.
