Job title: Desktop Support Technician

Bravura Solutions is currently looking for an enthusiastic, analytical Desktop SupportTechnician for our office in Takapuna, Auckland.

The individual’s role is to provide a single point of contact for end users toreceive support and maintenance within the organization’s virtualized anddesktop computing environment. The role is an entry level position and includesinstalling, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining and upgrading all PC hardware andequipment to ensure optimal workstation performance.

Main activities

· Configure, install, and support virtual servers,desktop computers, laptop computers, handheld devices, printers, monitors,portable data storage devices, and other general peripherals.

· Assist in the administration of the company VMWarevirtualised computing environment through collaborative work with the larger ITTeam.

· Relocate IT equipment including desktop computers,printers, monitors, portable data storage devices, and other generalperipherals.

· Configure IT devices for secure operation,including installation of security software, software updates, and otherconfigurations as required.

· Connect and configure IT devices to use computernetworks.

· Diagnose hardware and software failures,communicate the remediation plans to users, and provide status updates.

· Support desktop maintenance, including inventoryand software distribution, and security maintenance, including virus updatesand patch management.

Typical Experience

· One year university level course work and MCP(Microsoft Certified Professional) or equivalent.

· Exposure to the Linux OS with a basic understandingof its GUI and CLI components.

· Exposure to VMWare technologies and administeringvirtual machines.

· Knowledge of upgrading, troubleshooting andrepairing personal computers in a network environment.

· Prior desktop and installation experience.
