For a large number of people in the United States, December 18 was the most highly-anticipated day of the year (and maybe even the decade), because that’s when Star Wars: The Force Awakens debuted in theaters. Although the film is a central part of American popular culture, it seems to be lesser known in China. The film will be released in China on January 9, 2016. Are you curious about why people around the world are so crazy about “Star Wars?” Or are you already a huge fan, and can’t wait for the movie to come out?

Why not join us for a retrospective screening of “Return of the Jedi (Star Wars Episode VI),” the final film of the original Star Wars trilogy? “Star Wars” is an American science fiction franchise created by filmmaker George Lucas. It depicts the adventures of various characters “a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away,” focusing on a war between rebels who seek freedom and the evil forces of the Empire. The first film in the series, Star Wars (later subtitled Episode IV: A New Hope), was released in 1977 and became a worldwide pop culture phenomenon. All six films in the series were nominated for or won Academy Awards and were commercial successes.

Feel free to dress in your favorite Star Wars clothing or costumes and bring your Star Wars memorabilia! There will be a Q&A in English with American hosts after the screening.

This event does not require RSVP. This program is not suitable for children under 8.
