The Department

Our team of business services staff play a significant role in the success of Dentons, and we recruit staff into a wide variety of areas. Here, we look for focused, flexible individuals from a variety of backgrounds who are team players. Previous experience within the legal sector is not essential. Purpose Of Role

The Partnership Tax Associate will assist the Head of Partnership Tax in all aspects of in-house tax, including the completion of approximately 150 UK personal tax returns.

Responsibilities

• Preparation and completion of computations, tax figures and tax returns for:

                   1. the partnership

                        2. service companies

                        3. partners and their spouses

• Assisting with partnership tax computations, tax reserves and tax payments

• Dealing with queries relating to partners' personal tax

• Preparing corporation tax returns for service companies

• Dealing with HM Revenue and Customs in relation to day-to-day issues, researching and resolving any enquiries raised

• Assisting in the delivery of advisory work to partners and the partnership

• Liaising with the firm's external tax advisers

• Communicating with partners, the Accounts team, the Director of Financeand HR

• Supporting the Accounts team with withholding tax management and recovery

• Assisting with projects and sundry tax queries, as appropriate

Required Experience, Skills And Attributes

• Ideally CTA qualified or willingness to study for the CTA qualification

• High degree of IT literacy, especially Excel

• Familiarity and adaptability with tax software

• Willingness to accept responsibility for own workload, researching and responding enquiries as required

• Effective decision-making skills

• Flexible and proactive approach to work

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, confident and assertive when dealing with colleagues at all level of the organisation

• Excellent attention to detail

• Practical experience in preparing income tax returns

• A mixed tax background, and/or partnership experience, would be an advantage

Language Capabilities

We are a truly global law firm and as such, always welcome hearing from those with foreign language capabilities. In light of our recent combination, Mandarin language fluency would be particularly advantageous given that China is now core to our strategy.
