Junior Metals Analyst - This position will maintain S&D models and track real time data to provide a timely analysis of fundamental conditions.
- S&D for base metals
- Demand: Maintain bottom up and top down demand models with emphasis on Chinese metal demand
- Supply: Build database of listed miner production and guidance, maintain bottom up supply based indicators
- Update in real-time
- Stress test cost curves for various factors (USD, Oil, etc.)
- Stress test S&D for various scenarios
- Worse than expected Chinese growth, stronger than expect $
- Back-test S&D trading signals
- Generate trade ideas based on fundamental analysis
- Build price forecast based on regression of fundamental inputs
- Build contacts with industry
- Proficient in English and Mandarin, spoken and written skills
- Must have strong, recent Python & SQL coding skills
- Proven and recent analytic and quantitative background
- Data warehousing
- Proficient in technology: Unix, Visual Studio
- Previous recent experience using Python – pandas to manipulate large datasets
- Built automated analytical reporting tools through coding techniques
- Worked with in-house quant libraries
- Masters degree in Mathematics, Finance, Engineering, or related field
