📖 释：特别长的时间。大概跟中文的“猴年马日”有一样的脑洞吧。

🌰 栗: How’s your friend Lisa from school?” “Oh, god knows. I haven’t seen her for donkey’s years.

📖 释: 这就是啦，用于指路，或者说明一件显而易见的事。
🌰 栗：Take a left at the end of the road, and Bob’s your uncle, there’s the strip club.

📖 释: 真心便宜。像土豆一样便宜，这样的俚语也只有对土豆爱得深沉的民族才能想出来吧。

🌰 栗: Where did you get that TV?” “Oh, I just found it on eBay, it was cheap as chips.” 

📖 释：当电灯泡。传说中世纪的大小姐外出约会会有专人陪衬，假装在附近“采醋栗”，醋栗也就发展成电灯泡的代称啦。

🌰 栗:  Oh, you’re going to the cinema with Jamie and Robin, do you not find it weird playing gooseberry like that?

📖 释：太过离谱。这个短语起源于小盆友玩游戏获胜时得到的饼干，美式英语中用 take the cake,英式英语则更习惯用 biscuit。

🌰 栗: Harry getting with my sister was one thing but him getting with my mum too just takes the biscuit.

📖 释： 去厕所。在物价还没这么丧心病狂的以前，到公共洗手间上厕所需要投1便士，引申到今天就代指上厕所啦。

🌰 栗:  Excuse me for one moment, I just need to spend a penny.

📖 释：全是汉子。这个词根据字面意思就很好理解了，相信也不用菌菌多解释。

🌰 栗: The club was fucking terrible last night, it was a proper sausage fest in there.
