Travelling to QMUL Mile End Campus

1. From all airportsto QMUL Mile End Campus

Please book a cab by using thee-mail booking address at least 48 hours in advance. The prices from various airportsare listed below, in pounds sterling, and must be paid in cash to the driver,on arrival.

Heathrow £50 to £55

Gatwick £55 to £60

Stansted £50 to £55

Luton £62 to £65

Southend £60 to £65

London City £15

Please let the controllerknow/ include in your email the following information:

· date

· airport, as well as the terminal (1, 2, 3 ,4 or 5 atHeathrow; North or South at Gatwick)

· airline and flight number

· pick-up time; please note you need to allow at least 60minutes for passport control, customs and picking up luggage. Drivers have tocharge extra for waiting time due to high parking fees. Please keep theircontact number at hand, and call them if you realise that the immigrationprocess might take longer than an hour, and you are likely to be late. Pleasemake sure they have your mobile number.

2. From Heathrow toQMUL Mile End Campus

a) Taxi:

Please follow the instructionsabove.

b) Tube:

This is one of the cheapestways. It will take about an hour and a half. It is inconvenient if you have alot of luggage, but good for saving money: you will see signs for theunderground SHAPE \* MERGEFORMAT like this one; buya single ticket to Mile End station (zone 2) in the underground station (around£5.70) and take the next train that comes (there is a train every few minutes).You should also pick up a map of the London Underground at the station as thiswill be helpful. **You will be on the Piccadilly line – this is shown on the train andon the platform**

After 9 or 10 stations, youwill come to Hammersmith. Here,change to the Districtline (Westbound).

After about 18 stations, youwill arrive at Stepney GreenStation. Get off here. When you come out of the station you will be on Mile End Road. Turnleft and walk for less than 10 minutes along Mile End Road. You will see theQueen Mary campus on your left.

c) Train:

You can take the Heathrow Express to Paddington station - it takes just 15minutes (or 23 minutes from Terminal 4; there is a free transfer betweenTerminal 4 and Terminals 1, 2 & 3) and usually costs £21.00 for expressclass or £29.00 for first class. There is a train every 15 minutes.

You can also take the Heathrow Connect to Paddington station – it follows thesame route as Heathrow Express, with the only difference that it stops atcertain stations between Heathrow and Paddington. A single fare ticket from theairport to Paddington costs £9.90. Trains run every 30 minutes.

From Paddington, you caneither take a taxi or take the Hammersmith & City line to Stepney Greenon the Underground (but you might have some difficulties, if you bring a lot ofluggage).

d) Coach:

You can take a National Express coach to Victoria coach station – between £6 –£7.00 one way. Be sure to book as early as possible for cheaper tickets. Ittakes 40-50 minutes with frequent departures. You can either take a taxi fromVictoria or the Districtline (eastbound) to Stepney Greenstation, then walk along Mile End Road to reach the Queen Mary campus.

3. From Stansted toQMUL Mile End Campus

a) Taxi:

Please follow the instructionson the first page.

b) Tube:

While there are no direct tubelines connecting Stansted Airport to Central London, you can take a taxi orcoach from the airport to Epping stationon the Central line(westbound). After about 11 stations, you will reach Mile End station. Turn left and walk for less than 10 minutes alongMile End Road. You will see the Queen Mary Mile End campus on your right.

c) Train:

You can take the Stansted Express train from the airportto London Liverpool Street. Trainsrun every 15 minutes and the average journey takes around 46 minutes. Standardclass single fare tickets cost £23.40, while a first class single ticket is£37.50. Advance tickets might be available from £8 if booked at least 30 daysin advance, or £12 if booked at least 7 days in advance.

For London Undergroundservices, you can change at LiverpoolStreet and take the Central line (eastbound) to Mile End station. Turn left and walk for less than 10 minutes alongMile End Road until you reach the East Gate of the Queen Mary Mile End campuson your right.

d) Coach:

You can take a National Express coach (A9) directly to MileEnd station. Tickets cost around £8 – 9.00 depending on the time of yourbooking, while the average journey is about an hour.

There are also EasyBus coaches from Stansted airport toCity (Old Street tube station). Dependingon when you book, tickets range from £2.99 to £8.49. At the undergroundstation, take the Northern Line toMoorgate (southbound) and change to Hammersmith & City line (eastbound) toeither Stepney Green or Mile End station. Alternatively, take the Northern Line to Bank (southbound) and change to the Central line(Eastbound) to Mile End.

Terravisioncoaches are one of the cheapest ways to get to campus. There are two routes tochoose from:

· Stanstead Airportto Liverpool Street Station (A51) – journey time 55 minutes, from £8.00for a single ticket. Once you get to Liverpool Street Station, you can take either the Central line (eastbound) to Mile End station, or you can take the Hammersmith & City line (Eastbound) to Stepney Green station.

· Stanstead Airportto London Stratford (A52) – journey time 40 minutes, £6.00 for a single ticket.Once you get to Stratford station, take the Central line (westbound) to Mile End station, then follow theinstructions above on how to get to the Queen Mary campus.

4. From Gatwick toQMUL Mile End Campus

a) Taxi:

b) Tube:

There are no direct tubeconnections from Gatwick to Central London. You can take a taxi or coach fromthe airport to West Croydon station,then take the Overgroundto Whitechapel, where youcan change to the District line (eastbound) to Stepney Green station. Turn left andkeep walking along Mile End Road for less than 10 minutes to reach theuniversity campus to your left.

c) Train:

GatwickExpress trains to Victoria stationrun every 15 minutes with an average journey time of 30 minutes. A single one-wayticket costs £17.75, while a first class single ticket is £25.80. At Victoria,take the Districtline (eastbound) to StepneyGreen station to get to campus.

You can also book a First Capital Connect train fromGatwick to Blackfriars station. Theaverage journey takes 38 minutes and you can find tickets from £7.40 to £24.60depending the type of fare and time of your booking. Once you get to BlackfriarsStation, take the District line (eastbound) to Stepney Green station to get to campus.

d) Coach:

There are National Express coaches running from Gatwick Airport to Victoria station. Tickets cost from£8.00 one-way and the journey takes between 80 and 95 minutes. Take the District line(eastbound) from Victoria to StepneyGreen station, then turn left and walk along Mile End Road to get to theQueen Mary campus.

You can also take an EasyBus coach from the airport to Earls Court/West Brompton. Tickets range between £2.99 – 9.99, you willreach the underground station in around 70 minutes. At Earls Court tube stationtake the Districtline (eastbound) to either Stepney Green or Mile End stations.

5. From Luton to QMULMile End Campus

a) Taxi:

Please follow the instructionson the first page.

b) Tube:

There are no direct tubeconnections from Luton Airport to Central London.

c) Train:

You can choose a First Capital Connect train from LutonAirport to St Pancras International station.Journeys can take around 45 minutes, while tickets range from £15.50 forstandard ticket to £23.00 for a first class ticket. Take the Hammersmith& City line (eastbound) from King’s Cross St Pancras to either Stepney Green or Mile End stations.

You can also take the Northern line to Bank station, then change for the Central line to Mile End, but thisroute is not recommended, if you have heavy luggage.

d) Coach:

There are National Express coaches connecting Luton Airport to Victoria station departing every 20minutes. Tickets are around £8.00 to £10.00 for a single fare, while theaverage journey time is just over 1 hour. From Victoria, take the Districtline (eastbound) to Stepney Greenstation, then turn left and walk along Mile End Road to reach the Queen Marycampus.

You can also take an EasyBus coach from the airport to Baker Street station. Single ticket isbetween £3.99 – 9.99, and the average journey time is around an hour.

To reach the Queen Mary campusfrom Baker Street tube station, take the Hammersmith & City line (Eastbound) toeither Stepney Green or Mile End station.

The third option is the Green Line coach (route 757) to Victoria station. The coaches departevery 30 minutes, and the journey takes around 1 hour and a half. FromVictoria, take the District line (eastbound) to Stepney Green station, then turn left and walk along Mile End Road to reach the Queen Mary campus.
