The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (Kew) has been a world leader in plant and fungal science for over 250 years, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a major visitor attraction that shows the importance of plants in all our lives.
Kew’s vision is of a world where plants and fungi are understood, valued and conserved – because our lives depend on plants and fungi. Philanthropy and self-generated income are ever more critical to important institutions like Kew in today’s challenging times.
Kew Foundation is an independent charity which secures voluntary income for Kew and, in the lastyear, its activities contributed approximately 20% of Kew’s income. We were recently named as the UK’s second fastest growing fundraising organisation, based on research conducted by Cass Business School, with 80% revenue growth in the last 5 years. Through the work of a dedicated and professional team, and the exceptional support of Friends, donors, Patrons and Benefactors as well as many corporations, trusts and foundations, our recently concluded five year ‘Breathing Planet’ fundraising campaign raised over £102 million.
We continue to be very excited about what the future holds for Kew as we raise vital funds to help Kew Scientists to unlock the power of plants and address some of the most critical challenges facing humanity today.
