电影放映及讨论:追赶太阳( 2015 ) Movie Screening and Discussion: Catching the Sun (2015)

This program will be conducted in English . The movie will be in English with Chinese subtitles.

In celebration of Earth Day, the Beijing American Center proudly presents “Catching the Sun,” a 2015 documentary film on the growth of the solar power industry in both the U.S. and China. Through the stories of workers and entrepreneurs, “Catching the Sun” documents the global race to lead the clean energy future. “Catching the Sun” tells the story of the global energy transition from the perspective of workers and entrepreneurs building solutions to income inequality and climate change with their own hands. Chinese companies are investing in innovative technologies trying to capitalize on this trillion-dollar opportunity, while in the U.S. activists try to build an inclusive, social justice-oriented green job economy against a complicated political backdrop. Their successes and failures speak to one of the biggest questions of our time: will the world actually be able to build a clean energy economy and wean itself off of fossil fuels?

Following the screening, an Embassy staff member will host a post-screening discussion on the economics of energy production and consumption.

This program is not suitable for children under 6.
