#American Artist - Andy Warhol

Andy Warhol borrowed from popular culture to make his art and contributed to a phenomenon we now call pop art.  He started as a commercial illustrator and eventually moved into painting, screenprinting, film and photography.  For the bulk of creative life, Warhol worked out of an artist space called The Factory.  This Factory was known for bringing all types of people into the same space where art production and social lives mixed. Many celebrities spent time hanging out at The Factory. Twenty years after Warhol’s death he is still known for his celebrity and wit. He described his work by saying, “I like boring things.”
