Position Overview
The Associate provides direct client facing support for work involving the due diligence services provided by the Due Diligence and Strategic Research business unit.
Essential Job Functions
Conduct detailed investigative research and analysis focused on emerging markets to help the firm’s clients identify and understand regulatory and reputational risks before proceeding with commercial relationships (this primarily involves undertaking open source and database research for integrity and compliance due diligence, background investigations, asset traces and risk assessments)
Produce high quality oral and written work product with the ability to understand and summarise large amounts of information in a concise manner
Master due diligence project report writing with assignments requiring limited guidance and QA editing by senior team members
Have developed a basic understanding of the financial management of a due diligence project
Ability to instruct and manage subcontractors on projects with limited guidance from senior staff
Update and own country / regional databases and research materials, actively work to improve there search resources used by the practice
Assist with basic client management and the preparation of quotes for clients
Assist with training incoming Analysts
Form and articulate expert opinions based on analysis
Maintain a high level of professionalism in all areas of performance
Provides support to clients and senior Due Diligence and Strategic Research staff
Requirements
Master’s degree in Politics and International Relations is strongly preferred
An interest in international affairs and strong commercial knowledge are essential
Research experience using English and Chinese open sources and comprehensive databases in a commercial context to identify regulatory and reputational risks
Professional experience in conducting in-depth due diligence focusing specifically on the Asia Pacific region
Prior work experience with a business advisory firm is strongly preferred
Relevant industry experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Candidates Must Possess
Strong interpersonal communication and clear and articulate speech and writing skills
Accurate and detail oriented record keeping skills
Capacity for adaptation to a rapidly changing environment
Ability to travel if it’s needed for certain client engagements
Excellent written and spoken English
Fluent in written and spoken Mandarin
Proficiency in written and spoken Cantonese
