10月12日，教育及培训部长西蒙·伯明翰姆（Simon Birmingham）在澳大利亚国际教育大会上谈到了澳大利亚在国际教育方面的成功。媒体随之对这番话进行了解读和报道。
在此，悉尼新南威尔士大学申明：
新的海外学生英语强化课程（ELICOS）国家标准不会改变新南威尔士大学的英语入学要求。
我们将继续接受在UNSW Global成功完成新南威尔士大学直升英语课程UEEC的学生，这些学生无需进行额外测试来获得入读新南威尔士大学的资格。
新南威尔士大学对UNSW Global为国际学生提供的优质途径感到骄傲。我们将继续保持在世界一流的澳大利亚国际教育体系前沿的领导地位。

UEEC Entry to UNSW is Not Affected by the Revised Standards
On Thursday, 12 October 2017, The Hon Senator Simon Birmingham, Minister for Education and Training spoke about Australia’s successes in international education at the Australian International Education Conference.
In response to the recent media coverage, UNSW Sydney would like to clarify that the new ELICOS national standards do not change the English entry requirements for UNSW Sydney. The University will continue to accept students who successfully complete the University English Entry Course (UEEC) at UNSW Global without the need to undertake additional testing in order to qualify for entry to UNSW.
UNSW is proud of the quality pathways for international students provided by UNSW Global and we continue our leadership position at the forefront of the Australian sector’s world class international education system.
