4月24日晚，上海美国中心请到了喜林苑（The LindenCentre）创始人Brian Linden与Jeanee Linden，来为大家作题为“喜林苑：探索与修复”的讲座。喜林苑位于云南大理市北部喜洲镇，不仅是一家旅店，也是个跨文化交流中心，倡导的是一种可持续的旅游模式，将文化传承、对历史遗产的保护和提高当地村民生活水准有机的结合起来，自创立以来已在其位于大理的三个院落接待了超过 20 万名客人。除了提供精品酒店的服务外，喜林苑也是一个为世界各地国际学校学生团队提供教育项目的文化平台，其合作伙伴有位于美国华盛顿的西德维尔友谊中学、普林斯顿在亚洲、印第安纳大学、明德学院、上海美国学校等，并定期开设各类主题的工作坊。

OnApril 24, 2018, the Shanghai American Center will host Brian and Jeanee Linden,co-founders of the Linden Center for a talk titled “Exploration and Restorationwith the Linden Centre”. Located in Xizhou, Yunnan, the Linden Centre isa boutique hotel and center for cultural exchange established with the goal ofcreating a sustainable tourism model that would combine preservation andinvestment in the villagers' economic and social well-being. Since itsfounding, the Centre has welcomed over 200,000 visitors to their three Dali heritagesites. In addition to the boutique hotel experience, the Centre's internationaleducation programs include semester-long research courses with Sidwell Friends,partnerships with Princeton-in-Asia, Indiana University, Middlebury, ShanghaiAmerican School, and regular conferences/workshops focusing on various topics.

Brian和Jeanee会和大家分享当初为何毅然卖掉美国的房子而将积蓄投入这个项目，和当地政府合作的独特经验，以及在文物建筑工作面临的挑战。

Brianand Jeanee will share their story of why they sold their home in America andinvested their life savings in the project, introduce their unique partnershipswith the prefectural and county governments, and discuss the challenges ofworking in the southeast vestiges of the Himalayas.
