Introduction: Former New York City police officer, Peter Liang, a 28 year old Chinese-American, was on the job for merely 18 months when he accidentally discharged his department issued gun while in a dark stairwell in an apartment building. The tragedy that unfolded from that errant bullet is at the heart of rising racial tensions between police departments, prosecutors offices, and ethnic communities in the United States. Come hear about the Liang prosecution and you decide – was this a case of Justice or InJustice? The lecturer is Ye-Ting Woo, a Chinese-American, who is a Resident Legal Advisor for the U.S. Department of Justice and a 20 year veteran federal prosecutor.
