Did you know that there are American Rhinos? It’s true!

Millions of years ago, Nebraska was filled with more giant mammals and bizarre creatures than the Serengeti. You can see some at the Agate Fossils Beds, a National Monument located in Western Nebraska.

There you can see the bones of bear dogs, antelope camels, rhinos, and the ferocious daeodon, which is like a boar, but the size of a bull! And that’s just for starters. You can also see artifacts left over from the 31 native American tribes who lived in the area, including a shirt once worn by the great Lakota Chief Red Cloud.

If you’re looking for something more modern, Agate National Monument also maintains an Active  Native American artist-in-residence program. Or maybe you can just relax and enjoy the view. So how would you like to go on a prehistoric Safari?
