The Opportunity
Servlite is a light importer designing bespoke home lighting, novelty & Christmas lighting for the retail market. The company supplies lights to leading household retailers in the UK. The company is currently looking for a Purchasing Manager who will be responsible for sourcing novelty, kids and Christmas lighting from the Far East.
Responsibilities
Source lighting products to customers’ brief / designs or company’s own specification
Establish strategic relationships with key suppliers who are aligned to the company's needs
Visit and liaise with suppliers’ representatives and researches and identify new suppliers, agree terms and negotiate supply agreements where appropriate (oversea travel would be essential)
Negotiate prices and conduct research to as certain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value and quality
Monitor the critical path from product development to shipment in a timely manner
Monitoring supplier performance and production schedule
Updating data by using customer bespoke online computer system
Liaise with merchandiser and buyer to discuss product range and merchandising schedule
Manage quality checks of incoming goods and ensures suppliers deliver on time
Review ongoing and new products with suppliers to ensure most cost effective manufacturing of products
Manage delivery of customer’s requirements from suppliers to ensure the deadline can be met on time
Manage the critical path from product development to shipment in a timely manner
Forecasting likely levels of demand for services and products to meet the business needs and keeping a constant check on stocklevels to maximise business efficiency
Key Skill Requirements
Experience in purchasing / sourcing of household products will be beneficial
Solid experience of dealing with suppliers from the Far East and the ability to build good relationship with customers and suppliers is essential
Excellent problem solving and analytical ability
Understanding of Chinese languages and culture will be advantageous
Understanding of product costing and cost variance analysis
Track record of coordinating number of projects
Good negotiation skills and good people skills, ability to work well with others within the team
Ability to communicate effectively and accurately
