#US-General Election - Swing States and Why They Matter

All votes — and voters — are important, and all states will be visited by the candidates or their surrogates.  Campaign staffs and political action committees will place advertisements on the radio and TV, and will reach out to potential voters by phone or mail.

That said, candidates may allocate campaign resources based on the "political math" -- which states they feel confident they can win, which they feel they will lose, and which states could go either way.

It is this third group of "swing states" or "battleground states," some large and some small, that play a particularly important role in the campaign and the election.

Each candidate will work to win those states' electoral votes, in order to reach the 270 needed to win the election.

Which states do you think are “swing states" in this election?
