欢迎您于5月19日星期六前来北京美国中心,参加由美国驻华大使馆地区英语项目办公室(Regional English Language Office)举办的第二十三届英语教学研讨会!此活动免费面向各学段英语教师及教研人员。 

本次活动由2位目前在中国高校执教的美国外语/二语教学领域的英语学者(English LanguageFellow)为大家带来4场时长均为75分钟的工作坊。活动限100人,实名注册,报满即止。

9:00-9:15: OpeningRemarks

9:15-10:30:Speaking tasks in the EFL Classroom –Sarah Warfield

This workshopwill discuss how to teach speaking in an EFL classroom. Teachers will practicetasks aimed at teaching individual speaking skills for formal presentations,impromptu speeches, and interactive assignments. Teachers will have the time tocreate lessons based on these strategies that they can use in their individualclassrooms. Assessment of speaking tasks will also be discussed.

 

10:45-12:00:Self-Assessment through Digital VideoRecordings – Sharlyn Peterson

Digitalrecording offers learners a means of using self-assessment to improvepronunciation, fluency, and expression. When students watch and listen closelyto their spoken performances, they become more aware of their speaking skillsand deficits. Using cellphones to record speaking activities during thelearning process allows students to help determine areas of difficulty as wellas improvement after practice.  Participants will practice using thismethod and creating self-evaluation guides to record improvements.

13:30-14:45 Let'sChit-Chat: Teaching Small Talk in the EFL Classroom – Sarah Warfield

In this interactive workshop, participants areintroduced to the idea of small talk, its importance in academic communities,and how it can encourage second language acquisition. They engage in communicativetasks for teaching small talk strategies to EFL learners in academic languagecommunities, including focusing on the lexico-grammatical features of smalltalk.

15:00-16:15 Readers Theater:Performing to Improve Speaking Skills – SharlynPeterson

Readerstheater provides an enjoyable and effective method for developing publicspeaking skills without the difficulty of producing costumes, sets, or props.Dramatic reading encourages better pronunciation, expression, and fluency.Workshop participants will practice using sample readers theater scripts andlearn where to find and download free scripts to use in their classes.

Thisevent is ONLY open to English teachers and professionals. The event will beconducted in English. Audio or video recording of the program will not bepermitted.
