现场钢琴表演和讲座: 朱工一教授在中国的钢琴遗产;

Live Piano Performance and Lecture: Zhu Gong-Yi's Pianistic Legacy in China

6:30- Monday, May 7th, 6:30pm

China is not generally known for its great lineages in piano and pedagogy, especially when compared to the United States, Europe, and Russia. However, Chinese pianist Zhu Gong-Yi is an exception to this trend. Gong-Yi, who has been associated with the prestigious Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing since 1946 and held its coveted Chair of Piano position from 1982 to 1986, was vastly influential in training internationally renowned artists, and leading China into the 21st century as a global, artistic power. However, like many artists and intellectuals during the Cultural Revolution, he and his family were persecuted. Please join us at the Beijing American Center to learn more about his powerful story through the eyes of his grandson and concert pianist, Alvin Zhu. Alvin, who is a current U.S. Fulbright Student Researcher in China, will also perform several of his grandfather’s pieces during the talk.

This program will be conducted in English.
