(Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve),1983年一次火山喷发后,博拉山(Mount Borah)增加了整整一英尺,而失落河谷(Lost River Valley)下沉了8英尺!

#Traveling Around the U.S. –  Site of the Week: Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve

Did you know mountains can grow? It’s true! Just look at Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve, after one eruption in 1983, Mount Borah grew a whole foot, while the Lost River Valley sank 8 feet! Located near a fault line, Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve was the site of a series eruptions and earthquakes from between 15,000 to 2,000 years ago. This has made Craters of the Moon a volcanic wonderland of lava rivers and lava trees. You can see this other worldly landscape in daily tours that last from anywhere between half an hour to more than a whole day. Along the way you can see some of Craters of the Moon’s other landmarks, including Echo Crater, Indian Tunnel and the Devil’s Orchard. So how would you like to go to the moon in Idaho?  Find out more at…
