In America, “bad” can sometimes mean “cool”. If you want proof, just look at Badlands National Park in South Dakota. The scenery is certainly very cool, with sharp buttes, pinnacles and spires with showcasing layers of soil ranging from deep red to bright yellow, which contrast beautifully with the clear blue sky. Each layer of soil has its own unique story. At different points in its history, the Badlands were a sea, a tropical landscape and woodland. Finally, the land was carved into the that make it up to today. Despite the rough ground, the park is very easy to get around. Boardwalks run throughout the park, allowing visitors easy access to the peaks and crags. You can even stay the night at one of two campgrounds.
