题目2:

More and more young people in wealthy countries go to poorer communities to do unpaid work. Why young people want to do that ?

Do the benefits for  young people outweigh that for the communities ?

完整范文

There is a growing trend of young people from wealthy countries volunteering in impoverished communities.  This essay will discuss some of the contributing factors to this phenomena and explain why I think it has more benefits to the communities than to the individuals.

43

Several reasons motivate the youth to work without getting paid in less developed areas.  This is primarily due to their empathy to people living in poverty.  Difficulties faced by poor populations such as starvation or having no access to advanced educational resources touch young people’s hearts and drive them to use their own talents to help those in need.  Another reason may be associated with the lower requirement of an unpaid job.  Compared with obtaining working experience from a paid job, it is much easier for young people to hone their practical skills in a volunteer job. This is because most of them have never worked before , making it hard for them to find paid opportunities.

116

I think this trend benefits communities more than the youth.  It is true that working in a community will offer the young generation various opportunities to apply academic knowledge in practice, deepen their comprehension of abstract concepts and enhance their ability to deal with problems in real life. These advantages give them a unique edge in their future job hunting.  Nevertheless, their contribution in communities has more influence.  Their advanced knowledge will not only benefit local people but also the society as a whole. For example, lots of volunteer teachers in villages in China equipped locals with more knowledge, which helped them land jobs and consequently revived the economy in many poor areas.

113

As a conclusion, young people’s empathetic feelings and working experience are what breed/cultivate the culture of “working for free in poor communities”. This fact has more merits to the communities than to the young people.

题目3:

Some people think healthcare should be made free for all people, while others believe people should pay for healthcare by themselves. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

完整范文

There has been contradictory views about whether medical services should be charged or not. Both points of views  will be discussed in this essay, followed by my own opinion on this matter.

Supporters of a free health care system may have the following persuasive reasons. Firstly, this policy benefits individuals’ finance. For example, in China, it is the  welfare of  seeing doctors for free that has   significantly reduced citizens’ expenditures on health , thus saving their costs of living.   Furthermore, this bonus can indirectly contribute to the economic development of a society. This is because affordable healthcare services make it possible for diseases to be treated immediately and effectively, which improves people’s health, and their ability to create more revenues.

( Undeniably, most European countries economies are relatively good, but if their governments no longer provide free medical services, do you think the majority would be able to afford the expensive medical fees?  And, how could they work efficiently if they are sick ? )

However, the opponents who are against a free medical system may also have well-supported claims.  Obviously,  if individuals are paying for the medical care, tons of government spending can be saved and allocated to areas that are catalysts for the economic growth.  Therefore, a country’s economy can be boosted.  Furthermore,  we have to be aware that rather than solely relying on the government support,  welfare industry can obtain funding from individuals or through fundraising. In this case, government money can be utilised in solving  more urgent problems such as starvation or sanitary issues.

76

In my opinion, whether a country’s medical system should be free or not is not a “ yes or no” question. The answer is associated with the affordability of the government. For developed countries where the population is less while the government has a relatively great deal of money, the medical care should be free. However, for most developing countries such as India where there are lots of people, looking after everyone’s health would be a utopia.

题目4:

Media coverage on violent crimes make people frighten and encourage criminals.

For these reasons, some people have an opinion that crime news should not be put in

newspapers or television. To what extend do you agree or disagree.

完整范文

It is common for us to read or watch news reports about criminal behaviours. However, some people suggest prohibiting this content in the media since it will lead to more criminals and scare people. I disagree with this opinion.

Admittedly, crime reports do have harmful effects on individuals and society. Specifically, they may affect people’s mental health. Constantly being exposed to this negative information gives people an impression that society is saturated with crimes, causing insecure and frightening feelings. Also, too much exposure to criminal behaviours may desensitise viewers in the real world, increasing their probability of mimicking them.  However, the situations above rarely happen. Most crime reports enforce the consequences of breaking laws, which will enhance people’s sense of security and deter them from doing similar actions, rather than having an opposite impact.

I believe that it is necessary to continue reporting crimes. Obviously, it will reduce people’s vulnerability to crimes. For example, in Beijing, China, after a TV Channel, which focuses on reporting real criminal cases was introduced; public awareness was raised and citizens protected themselves in high-risk situations such as leaving their bags unattended. Consequently, the number of victims and crime rates have dropped. What is more, criminals will be punished accordingly. If some criminals do not receive proper punishments due to police corruption, exposing their behaviours to the public can attract legal authorities’ attention, thereby resulting in more sophisticated investigations and making victims feel they are cared and valued.

As discussed above, although crime reports have the probability to harm society and individuals, the probability is very slim. Therefore, I firmly believe that crime reports need to be maintained instead of being restricted

题目5:

Nowadays, people prefer to  shop in  supermarkets rather than small shops or  local markets. Why is that ? Is this a positive or negative trend ?

完整范文

In recent years, as compared to local shops, supermarkets have been attracting more consumers. This essay will discuss contributing factors of this phenomenon, and why I think it is a curse instead of a blessing.  35 words

The popularity of supermarkets is primarily due to  the affordable product prices, which can definitely reduce consumers’ household expenditures so that more money can be spent on other facets of their lives such as education, fitness or entertainment. This results in  enhancing people’s quality of life. Also, compared with going to local shops, shopping in supermarkets enables consumers to make more sensible decisions, due to the wide range of available items.

Nevertheless, I think consumers’ preference for supermarkets is a negative thing. This will cause traffic congestion and air pollution in areas where supermarkets are located.  For example, it is the supermarket opened 3 years ago in my hometown that has been increasing the traffic volume on weekends. Consequently, the traffic conditions and air quality have been exacerbated. Also, the sales of local shops have reduced, causing many staff to lose jobs, making it hard for them to survive.

Admittedly, the popularity of supermarkets has raised the demand in associated products and services.  For example, most supermarkets are in shopping malls, and will attract consumers to spend money on other nearby stores. However, to generate sales, shopping centers can  introduce appealing products or improve their services rather than solely relying on the supermarket. If supermarkets were the unique selling point, why most shopping malls in Beijing are always packed even without supermarket inside?

In conclusion, people’s switching from local shops to supermarkets is due to prices and more product options. However, this change has numerous demerits.

题目6:

Some people think every human being can create art, others think only the people born with ability can create arts. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

10 mins planning

完整范文

Are artists born or made ? There has been constant debate about this topic. Both views will be explained explicitly in this essay, followed by my own opinions.

Those who claim that every one is able to create artworks may have following reasons.
To start with, people can be equipped with professional arts knowledge and techniques through education. If inherited advantages were prerequisites for performing arts, why there are so many universities offering majors such as drama or music ? Furthermore, some may argue that only those who have natural talents can best comprehend art-related knowledge . However, it is widely accepted that the arts is defined as the representation of creators’ thoughts and emotions, which does not necessarily require any expertise. Even those who have no professional background can express their thinking through the arts. 110 words

However, the statement claiming having gifts is the necessity of creating artworks can also be justified. Undoubtedly, compared with ordinary people, those gifted ones can comprehend artistic knowledge and master skills more effectively. This is because they are ingrained with some qualities like creativity that can facilitate their learning. For example, the well-known Chinese pianist-Lang was more sensitive to music than other children, which accelerated his path to a successful musician. Further more, when artists have inherited strengths, they can express what they think precisely, making it likely for them to resonate with the audience.
For example, it is Adele’s raspy voice that helped her performed lots of heartbreaking songs, touching numerous fans’ hearts. 120 words

In my view, normal people can create arts. However, if they want to become excellent artists, they have to devote more efforts in accumulating knowledge and honing skills than those gifted ones.(32words)
