The School of Histories, Languages and Cultures wishes to appoint a 0.8 FTE Lecturer in Chinese with expertise in any area of Chinese Studies. We particularly welcome applications from candidates whose expertise lies within the field of contemporary Chinese Cultural Studies.
The successful applicant will be required to teach at all levels of undergraduate provision, across a range of Chinese language and cultural content modules (including the School’s Interdisciplinary modules), and to participate as appropriate in the administrative work of the School, including module co-ordination duties, Year Abroad co-ordination and personal supervision.
Experience of teaching both language and cultural content modules at university level in the field of Chinese Studies and a firm commitment to excellence in teaching are essential.
The successful applicant will also have native or near-native competence in Chinese.
The successful applicant must have a PhD in Chinese Studies or other relevant discipline, and should also have a strong scholarship profile commensurate with career stage. There will be an opportunity to contribute actively to the scholarly activities of the School.
This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic early career academic with an interest in furthering their teaching experience in tandem with growing their academic profile.
The successful candidate will be expected to commence on 1 September 2017.
