Education Officer – China

Wine Australia China in Shanghai


We are looking for an Education Officer, based in Shanghai, to develop the education strategy for Australian wine in China. The Education Officer will deliver and facilitate education programs in China.


The successful applicant will be highly motivated, passionate, flexible and prepared to work in a performance-driven culture. They must be able to work with minimal supervision and be able to demonstrate a track record of achieving measurable results in wine education and wine-related event management.


The successful candidate will report to Wine Australia’s Head of Market – China.

POSITION SUMMARY


Based in Shanghai, the Education Officer isresponsible for developing the education strategy for Australian wine in China,and delivering and facilitating educational programs in China to a wide range of audience including trade and consumers.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Development of the education strategy


  • Successfully promote the awareness, trial and understanding of Australian wine among trade and consumers by developing the education strategy in China to engage both trade and consumers


Plan and execute wine education projects


  • Successfully organise and implement wine educational projects identified in the Wine Australia’s annual programs including key trade events and promotions, consistent with the Wine Australia strategy and within project budgets


Manage & facilitate educational activities


  • Effectively support and manage regular educational activities identified in the Wine Australia’s core activities like Wine Australia Foundation Program and themed masterclasses by working closely with all the certified Australian wine educators and key speakers in China and abroad


  • Supporting third party activities where Australian messages can be integrated via education


  • Identify and develop new opportunities that effectively educate and promote Australian wines in the China market in line with Wine Australia strategies


  • Deliver wine trainings internally and externally as required


  • Translate and localise Australian wine terms, glossaries and other educational relevant information


  • Contribute to the development of annual and long-term educational program and plan on Australian wine in China in line with Wine Australia strategies


  • Maintain, identify and build relationship with in-market educational organisations, educators and key opinion leaders


  • Work with Global Education Director to develop educational materials for China market as required


  • Undertake all other educational duties to assist in the positive awareness and image development of Australian wine

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE


Qualification/s:


  • Extensive and solid wine knowledge such as WSET (Wine Spirits Education Trust) advanced or equivalent


Knowledge and Experience 


  • A strong presenter in wine education 


  • At least 5 years’ experience in wine education in China 


  • At least 3 years experience in organising wine related events in China


  • Project Management experience in the wine industry and good understanding of the Chinese wine market


  • Recent commercially focused work experience in an international / multinational company or foreign government organisation context in China for at least 3 years


  • A strong understanding of the Australian wine industry and practical work experience dealing with Australian or imported wine brands in China.
