Oxford Chinese Christian Church is an international church with participants of approximately 100, based at Lime Walk Methodist Church. Our mission field includes the Chinese population within and surrounding Oxford as well as English-speaking people from all over the world. Oxford Chinese Christian Church is keen to work co-operatively with other Churches, and we seek to provide outreach and support to the Chinese population locally. These include young and elderly people who may not normally attend our Church, as well as outreach to the nearby universities and the international student population.

Term:Full time (length of Contract to be decided by Church Council)

Salary: Dependent on experience, from £14,000 to 16,500 per annum

Responsible to: The Council of Oxford Chinese Christian Church

Duties:

1. Ministerial duties

• Supporting the Sunday Church Service and Prayer Meetings

• Preaching to the Mandarin and Cantonese congregations according to an agreed schedule

• Working with the Church Council and Departmental Heads in planning the future growth and direction of the Church and implementing the plan

• Promoting the joint working of the Mandarin, Cantonese and English Congregations

• Reporting the progress of the work undertaken to the Church Council, bringing any likely changes or problems in implementing plans agreed with the Church Council on a regular basis

2. Pastoral care

• Training leaders in Regional Bible Study groups

• Providing Discipleship training for new believers in Church and Baptismal classes

• Supporting Regional Bible Study Groups and providing individual counselling and support when required

• Visiting different members and families of the Church

3. Evangelistic work

• Coordinating evangelistic work including planning of gospel meetings, talks, workshops and Bible studies for non-christian friends and families

• Planning and coordinating outreach visitation to the homes and workplaces of the local Chinese community and student groups to spread the gospel and introduce the work of the Church

 4. Administrative work

•  Assisting the Church Council in daily administrative work

Knowledge

• A qualification in theology / religious studies

• In agreement with the Church’s Constitution

• Knowledge of other Churches and Christian organizations

• Knowledge of applying a Christian perspective in today's culture

• Able to preach and lead worship
