Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Scott Williams said temperatures in the second half of January and early part of February had been below average, with lots of cloud cover and southerly winds.

However, he said that weather pattern was set to change as a higher pressure system moved to the east and northerly winds pushed the temperature up.
