The Heartland of America: Exploring the Midwest 
探索中西部——美国的心脏地带

For most, a typical visit to the U.S. includes exploring the iconic coastalcities, glazing over the Midwest, hopping straight from California to New York,never exploring what the region has to offer. This region is known best for itsfriendly people, goofy accents, affordable colleges, outdoor activities, wildmusic festivals, a massive shopping center and America’s highest quality beef,cheese, and beer. Join us to learn more about the region many call America’sHeartland!

In accordance with new security regulations, any individual who is visiting theU.S. Embassy or Consulates General in China is not permitted to bring a laptopinto the Embassy or Consulate General. Individuals, who attend our publicevents, should be prepared to adhere to this requirement by not bringing alaptop with them. Please note, the Consulate General security guards will notstore the items for you. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause andthank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Note: This event is conducted in English andfree of charge. You will be asked to show your ID card or passport foradmission. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No cameras will be allowedand there is no place to check them, so please don't bring any cameras withyou. Cell phones and tablets are permitted, provided you do not use them totake photos. Thank you for your cooperation.

Media and Power – A Journalism Student’s Perspective
媒体与权力——一个新闻系学生的视角

There are over 30,000 journalists in the U.S. Join us to learn about what theydo to hold people in power to account. An American journalism student willdiscuss the importance of journalism in American democracy and take a deeperlook into the media’s role in the #metoo movement. She will also share herpersonal experiences and take your questions.
