为实现2017年美国高中或大学秋季入学，现在到了甄选升学顾问的时刻。当下一个流行的词叫做“试错”，但在挑选升学顾问这个问题上，错误的选择对家长，对学生时间和金钱的代价沉重。

瓜妈的个人观点是，既然我们希望去美国念书，美国又有个很教条，很程式化的文化环境，找顾问还是要从美国的做法和标准出发。 NACAC 和IECA是妈妈们需要知道的两个美国最高权威的正规升学顾问联盟组织。今天我们看一下IECA教你选升学顾问时必问的12个问题。

1. Do you guarantee admission to a school, one of my top choices, ora certain minimum dollar value in scholarships? (Do NOT trust any offer ofguarantees.)

对我喜欢的大学你能保证录取，或者保证给我一定金额的奖学金吗？(不要相信任何的保证.)

2. How do you keep up with new trends, academic changes and evolving campus cultures? How often do you get out and visit college, school, and program campuses and meet with admissions representatives? (The ONLY way to know about the best matches for you is to be out visiting schools regularly—we suggest a minimum of 20 campuses per year.)

你如何了解大学升学行业里的最新信息，学术变化和不断演变的校园文化？你一年几次去参观学校并和招生官交流？(能准确判断适合学生学校的唯一办法就是经常的去访问学校，IECA建议升学导师一年至少要访问20所大学。)

3. Do you belong to any professional associations? (NACAC and IECA are the two associations for independent educational consultants with established and rigorous standards for membership.)

你是任何升学辅导行业协会的成员吗？在美国，National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) –全美大学升学顾问联盟，和 Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) –独立升学顾问联盟是两个对成员要求最严格的高水平的行业组织。

4. Do you attend professional conferences or training workshops on a regular basis to keep upwith regional and national trends and changes in the law?

你是否经常参加升学顾问行业大会或者培训，从而了解美国升学领域的最新情况和相关的法律变化？

5. Do you ever accept any form of compensation from a school, program, or company in exchangefor placement or a referral? (They absolutely should not!)

你推荐或者安置录取学生之后是否接受学校，机构或公司的任何报酬？(真正的升学顾问不会从学校或机构收费，只受雇于学生和家长。)

6. Are all fees involved stated in writing, up front, indicating exactly what services I will receive for those fees?

你是否能够把所有费用提前列清楚，明确写出基于每项费用，我都能获得什么样的服务？

7. Will you complete the application for admission, re-write my essays, or fill out the financial aid forms on my behalf? (No, they should NOT; it is essential that the student be in charge of the process and all materials should be aproductof the student’s own, best work.)

你会不会帮我的孩子完成申请，重写文书，帮我填好助学金申请？（升学顾问不应该这么做。最重要的一点就是在申请过程中让孩子成为主导，申请材料必须是学生自己的出品，而且是能体现他最好水平的作品。）

8. How long have you been in business as an independent educational consultant (IECA)?

你做独立升学顾问有多长时间了？

9. What was your background prior to going into independent educational consulting? What was your training and education?

在做独立升学顾问之前，您从事什么工作？教育背景和培训经历是什么？

10. Will you use personalconnections to get me in to one of my top choices? (The answer should be NO. An IEC doesn’t get you admitted—they help you to demonstrate why you deserve to be admitted.)

你能用你的个人关系让我进入我的理想学校吗？（回答一定是NO。独立升学顾问不能保证你被录取，他们的作用是帮助你在申请过程中充分体现你值得被录取的素质。）

11. What specialized training do you have(LD, gifted, athletics, arts, etc.)?

你在教育领域有任何特殊培训吗，比如在学习障碍，天才教育，体育和艺术特长等方面？

12. Do you adhere to the ethical guidelines for private counseling established by IECA?

你是否遵守美国独立升学顾问的职业道德和职业准则？

One way to ensure that an independent educational consultant is ethical is to hire an IECA membere ducational consultant who has been vetted through IECA’s intense applicationprocess.
