约翰∙苏沙（1854年-1932年）是美国历史上最伟大的军队进行曲作曲家，被奉为“进行曲之王”。他谱写了美国国家进行曲《星条旗永不落》（“The Stars and Stripes Forever”），该曲于每年的7月4日被奏响。

苏沙还为美国海军陆战队谱写了官方的《忠诚进行曲》(“Semper Fidelis”)，以及十多首其他美国军旅及爱国进行曲。

苏沙的父母是来自葡萄牙的移民，他的父亲送他到美国海军陆战队军乐团担任学徒；在1875年苏沙离开军乐团以后，专注于指挥和创作进行曲。

America’s greatest military march composer, known as “The March King” was John Philips Sousa (1854-1932).  Composer of the National March of the United States of America, played each 4th of July “The Stars and Stripes Forever,” Sousa also composed “Semper Fidelis” the official march of the United States Marine Corp, and dozens of other American military and patriotic marches.  

The son of Portuguese immigrant parents, Sousa’s father enlisted him in the US Marine Band as an apprentice; after departing in 1875, Sousa focused on conducting and composing march music.
