From California girl to world famous figure skater, Peggy Gail Fleming is an incredible athlete.

Born in San Jose, California, her parents decided to move to Cleveland, Ohio, when she was 9 years old, where she started ice skating. Her unique and unusual ability to dominate the ice rink led to five U.S. titles, three world titles and a gold medal in the 1968 Olympics in Grenoble, France.  

ABC named her the World Wide World of Sports Athlete of the Year in 1967. After becoming an Olympic Champion, Fleming became a television sensation.
