一、什么是数据分析？

数据分析是另一个交叉性很强的专业，课程设置会涉及到计算机、统计学、经济学等，需要使用计算机的技能，像编程语言，统计和数学软件，建立模型的能力，进行数据的收集、分析，然后预测这个数据布局所体现出来的问题或者趋势，给出解决或提出方案。可工作于任何领域，医疗、教育、金融、工程等等。下面两个描述的两个定义协助你来理解。

二、美国有哪些大学开设数据分析专业？

美国大学开设DS专业的学校并不算多，一般会开设在计算机学院下，像南加大大学、马里兰大学和波士顿大学；还有些大学会有自己的Date Science Institute，例如哥伦比亚大学、纽约大学和弗吉尼亚大学；再就是在统计学院的下面，隶属于统计学下面的一个分支，例如斯坦福大学、康奈尔大学；而西北大学、伊利诺伊香槟是在工程和应用科学学院下。从以上开设专业的学院也可以看到，DS专业会比较倾向于招收理工科背景的学生，像数学专业、工程类、统计学、计算机等。一般这个专业也都会有先修课程的要求，常见的就是线性代数、微积分、数理统计、计算机等课程。
