Opioid related drug overdose killed 116 people daily in the U.S. in 2017.  Many crimes are committed due to opioid addiction, creating a large number of victims and drug-related criminal convictions in the U.S.  This ongoing cycle of drug addiction and crime endangers communities, victimizes families, and causes violence.  How do the judges and prosecutors in the U.S. work together to end the cycle, protect the people, and eliminate crimes resulting from opioid related addiction?   The Beijing American Center has invited Judge Paul Warner, Chief Magistrate of the United States District Court for the District of Utah, to introduce the roles of prosecutors and drug specialty courts in addressing the opioid crisis and reducing drug demand.

The event will be conducted in English with simultaneous translation in Chinese.
