“非传统教育”(non-traditional)是指学生的学习过程个不是一个连续性的过程，在高中毕业后现因个人原因或职业原因发生了中断学习超过一年后再进入大学学习的情况。这种模式较适合那些有成熟的规划和较强独立性的学生。
大家所熟知到底常青藤联盟之一的Columbia University 为同学们提供了严谨的教育环境。无论是按照传统方式直接进入大学学习，还是高中毕业后中断学习一年时间以上后再回到校园继续深造，都可以在这里获得充分的资源。
EducationUSA这次有幸请到了Columbia University 的招生官，Diana Kim女士，为同学和家长们讲解“非传统教育”。

A non-traditional student is a student who, for personal or professional reasons, have interrupted their education and now seeks a college experience tailored for a more mature and independent student.
As you may know, Columbia University is an Ivy League institution that provides a rigorous liberal arts education to both traditional students (coming straight out of high school) and non-traditional students (who have a minimum of 1 year gap in education). Ms. Diana Kim, Admissions Manager, School of General Studies, is delivering a speech about non-traditional study.
This session will be conducted in English.

You must bring a valid photo ID and your registration confirmation email in order to get into the Beijing American Center (BAC). Large bags will not be allowed into the program area of BAC.
请务必准时到达北京美国中心，在活动开始30分钟后将不允许入场参加活动。
You must arrive at the Embassy BAC entrance no later than half an hour of the program starting time for check in. You will NOT be admitted if you arrive half an hour after the program has started.

For security reasons, the BAC staff reserves the right to refuse entry to anyone.

Ms. Diana Kim is an Admissions Manager at Columbia University School of General Studies. She received the Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from Colgate University in 2010, and the Master of Arts degree in Higher and Postsecondary Education from Columbia University in 2013. She is currently leading the East Asian recruitment initiatives in her Admissions team at Columbia University School of General Studies. Diana has a genuine passion for her work and enjoys speaking with students from all walks of life. She is fluent in Korean language, and is currently mastering her third language, Mandarin Chinese, as a post-baccalaureate student at Columbia University.
