中秋節快樂 Happy Mid-Autumn Festival

還有不到20天就到中秋節-全球華人同胞們的第二大節日(僅次於春節- 中國新年)。這裡簡單地介紹一下月餅的“四大天王”: 廣式、蘇式、潮式、京式月餅

2015 Mid-Autumn Festival will be on 27th September which is considered to be the second-most important tradition festival celebrated by Ethnic Chinese, which is just after the Chinese New Year. Below is the brief introduction of 4 major types of the traditional mooncakes.


廣式月餅

(Cantonese-style mooncake)


精巧的製作技藝、皮薄鬆軟、圖案精緻、花紋清晰。其款式能達到200多種。餅餡主要以蓮蓉、豆沙、棗泥和鹹蛋黃為主。

It is known for its beautiful shape with clear and exquisite pattern on crust. It has up to 200 variations. The ingredients used for the fillings are usually lotus seed paste, red bean paste, red date paste and egg yolk.

中國南方地區 China Southern Region


蘇式月餅

(Suzhou-style mooncake)


是著名的酥皮類餅食。其餅皮層次分明、松酥、餡利口不粘。蘇式月餅製作技藝被列入“非物質文化遺產保護名錄”。

It is known for its layers of flaky dough. The flaky layers dough technique has been established since more than a thousand years ago and it is now been recorded as one of the Protection of China Intangible Cultural Heritage.

潮式月餅

(Chiuchow-style mooncake)


同屬酥皮類餅食、別稱朥餅- 朥字是潮汕方言指豬油。用豬油摻麵粉作皮, 經過烤焙豬油的香味甚為豐富。

This is another flaky crust variety mooncake. "Lao" means lard in the local language, thus it is also called Lao Cake. It is known for its rich taste of the lard aroma coming out from the pastry.

京式月餅

(Beijing-style mooncake)


有提漿月餅(餅皮與廣式月餅類似)和酥皮月餅(又稱翻毛月餅,餅皮與蘇式月餅類似)兩大類

This style has two variations. One is called Di Qiang, which has the similar pastry as the Cantonese-style mooncake; the other one is called Fan Mao, which was influenced by the Suzhou-style mooncake with the flaky pastry.

中國北方地區(起源於京津及周邊地區) China Northern Region and it’s originally introduced from the Beijing, Tianjin and the surrounding area

In addition to the main types of the traditional mooncakes, we can see that some innovative new style mooncakes are emerging in market, like the Snowy Mooncake, the Mini Mooncake, the Custard Mooncake and so on. The traditional style still dominants the mooncake market, however the younger generation has been attracted by the new stylish appearance and the unique taste by the new style mooncakes.
