Exploring the Modern Chinese Diaspora: One Women’s Experience from Singapore to New York City

 May 10th, Thursday, 6:30pm

In America, May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, a month that celebrates the culture, traditions, and history of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the United States.

In honor of this month, and as part of the fourth edition of the US-China Education Trust’s Asian American Author Series, the Beijing American Center is proud to host a lecture and conversation about Asian American identity and American multiculturalism with New York-based journalist and author Cheryl Lu-Lien Tan. During her talk, Tan, who was born and raised in Singapore, will explore her own transpacific identity and her journey from international student to reporter to novelist. She will also share insight into what life is like for Asian Americans living in the United States, having written about Asian American society throughout much of her career as both a journalist and author. Please join us for this great opportunity to explore and deepen your understanding of American cultural diversity and Asian American identity.

This program will be conducted in English.
